Decarbonizing transport is crucial for achieving climate targets, which challenging because mobility growing rapidly. Personal a key societal service and basic need, but currently not available to everyone with sufficient quality quantity. The basis accessibility of desired destinations infrastructure, its build-up maintenance require substantial fraction global resource use. question arises, how much infrastructure are required deliver decent, sustainable mobility. We explore the relations between levels, well-being. synthesize definitions decent assess measurements provide novel estimate stocks 172 countries in year ~2021. then travelled distances, accessibility, economic activity several ‘beyond GDP’ well-being indicators. find that distances levels significantly correlated.
